Fees and My Commitment

Thank you for your interest in working with me. I am honored that you are considering partnering with me to work on your health and wellness goals.

I invite you to consider donating to the Esselen Tribe of Monterey County, whose ancestral homeland I currently work and live on. More information can be found HERE.

I support Sovereignty for the Nation of Hawai'i. Especially if you vacation/travel to Hawai'i, I encourage you to contribute to native initiatives for Hawaiian self-governance and self-determination. I recommend either:

Ka Lāhui Hawai'i or Pu’uhonua O Waimānalo, the current land for the Nation of Hawai'i

Below you will find information about my commitment to the community and planet, and what that means in terms of my fees. Like everyone, I am a work in progress, trying to do what I can to restore the current predominant system in place to one that is more equitable. I invite you to reach out to me with your feedback and ideas for ways that I can improve.

My Commitment

I am committed to the preservation of this planet and everything on it to the best of my abilities. My goal is to live as gently as possible, help guard our natural resources, and attain social equity and equality through compassion and inclusion.  I will do this through the lens of a Feminist Business Model.

What does that mean to me?

1) What I offer used to be knowledge that women held but had taken from us to be monetized by a patriarchal white supremacist capitalist system. I want to return that to women and communities.

2) I want to build partnerships with women to work towards their healing goals that do not involve anyone harboring resentment or creating suffering to access care with me.

3) I want to assist women in building more self-reliance, so they do not always need to pay others to help them.

4) I want to forge partnerships with other people/businesses that I can refer to if I am not the right fit for a client, rather than being competitive with other people/businesses doing similar work. This will help women feel they have a choice in who can serve them best, and we will create a community system that works better than the current one, which is failing us.

Why?

It's part of my long-term strategy to liberate myself and repay the benefits I have received from a system of inequity as much as possible. It's scary, because like everyone, I have obligations (rent! children! bills!)  and there is room for improvement as I try to navigate this--but I think it is going to be ok!

I plan to work towards this goal personally and professionally in the following ways:

1) My fees for all women's health and primary care work are by suggested donation. I use the middle of the typical range of what primary care providers charge as the amount written on your invoice.  My intention is to allow you to choose what compensation you believe is fair for the visits with me, while considering an amount that also will not create hardship for you.

Traditional invoices are sent based on suggested fees for two reasons:

* People ask me all the time, as a frame of reference, what these types of visits typically cost, so they have a baseline to work from in coming up with an amount that feels equitable and possible for them. I understand it can be hard getting used to a system like this without any guidance. If you prefer NOT to get an invoice (it can create feelings in people), just let me know, and I will leave it blank.

*For those using health insurance and submitting Superbills to be reimbursed,  they often choose to pay the standard fee for my services, since it will not require more personal sacrifice beyond what they already spend on thier their insurance premiums.  If you would like a Superbill, just let me know.

I ask that you use the following guidelines in deciding what to pay me:

*You reflect on how valuable your time with me was

*You pay an amount that will not cause hardship, resentment, feelings of unfairness, or any other feelings that could negatively influence our collaboration on your health issues and goals in any future work we do together

*For those who can pay more than the fees on the invoice, amounts paid above the suggested fee will be held in a scholarship so that I can provide more pro bono services to community members who cannot afford to pay me.

2) I donate 10% of all Sahela Wellness profits annually to support organizations working in the following areas:

  • Global Health and Human Rights

  • Indigenous Lands and Peoples

  • Climate Change and Environmental Preservation

  • The Preservation of Midwives and Traditional Midwifery

3) I commit to improving access to healthcare with a priority given specifically to BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized populations through both pro bono work for direct patient care services and community service. Please inquire if you would like to request pro bono services.

4) I commit to a minimum of 8 hours a week of pro bono work for grassroots non-profit organizations that work in the Global Public Health sector in low-resource settings. For a description of current projects or to assist with these efforts by financially supporting these community organizations, contact me for information.

5) I contribute to carbon offsetting programs for all credit card and Venmo transactions, maintenance of this website, Zoom platform use, electronic health record maintenance, and other administrative components that utilize carbon resources.

6) I support indigenous healers and communities that have been marginalized from the system that I've benefited from through supporting scholarship funds to ensure access to education, promoting their work and businesses, and community-service volunteering.

What about my work with Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy/Therapy (KAP)?

Due to the high overhead and legal requirements associated with providing Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAP), I am not currently able to offer services based on donation at this time, but I do provide a sliding scale and payment options. The fees are described in a separate document that I can provide upon request, or are sent with the initial informational packet provided as part of the paperwork completed before this service can be provided.

I am working on a model to offer ongoing GROUP KETAMINE for those who can benefit as a way to reduce the cost and build community. If you are interested in this, please reach out using my CONTACT PAGE.  Group Ketamine work will be in collaboration with experienced colleagues in the fields of therapy, social work, energy healing, and body work.

Below are links to some organizations that I have given support to in the past or currently support and think are doing amazing work, in case you are interested in making a direct donation:
